Many were doubting whether the ECS season 7 finals would deliver without teams like Liquid, FaZe, Natus Vincere, and more but so far they’d be wrong.

In the opening match of the event, it was a battle of Nuke titans. Both teams have held streaks of 19+ wins on the map with both being defeated over the last two months. This doesn’t mean they’re not to be feared, however, and they certainly delivered in this match. Taking it all the way, FURIA would best the Danes on the veteran map 16-14 thanks to a superb performance from Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato.

Following NRG’s win over Ninjas in Pyjamas and a 16-9 win for Vitalirty against compLexity, North were off to a rough start. Up against the Brazilians of MIBR, the Danish side couldn’t get anything going and would hand over an 11 round lead at 14-3. A switch flipped, however, and the Danes brought it all the way back sending the match into what would be the first of three overtimes.

Going tit-for-tat, it looked as if overtime could go on forever between these two on Inferno. Finally though, Philip “aizy” Aistrup would step up to the plate with a 1v3 clutch to give his team the much needed three rounds on the T-side.

There’s still plenty of Counter-Strike to be played, but this has been a thriller so far.
