While there haven’t been too many chances to show their worth yet, the OG CS:GO roster is in desperate need of some wins over top-notch opponents to prove their worth as a lineup. This weekends BLAST Premier Spring Series Group C matches will be that chance.
OG will take on the North Americans (and Bulgarian) of Evil Geniuses in their opener. The European mix will be looking to bounce back after a 1-2 exit at the ICE Challenge 2020. The team took down a rather disappointing ENCE lineup in their debut match at the event before falling 2-0 to both Natus Vincere and MAD Lions. mousesports would go on to win the event over Na’Vi.
Against Na’Vi it was a total team meltdown as none of the five players managed to finish with a positive record as they lost both maps with only 6 and 8 rounds respectively.
Things went slightly better for Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski and massively better for Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt in their match against MAD LIons, regardless of the loss. NBK went from -20 against Na’Vi to a +7 against the Danish side and added 27 to his average damage per round.
Issa “ISSAA” Murad and Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså massively underperformed, however, and as two of the team’s main sources of firepower, performances such as this will not net OG many wins.
Evil Geniuses, OG’s first opponent in Group C, hasn’t played an official since December when they made a semifinal run at EPICENTER 2019 before losing to mousesports. A win there or at least a strong performance could help build up OG’s confidence and with 100 Thieves and G2 as the other members of the group, it’s not easy but it could certainly be worse when compared to the other groups.
