Some major announcements have come out of Riots in celebration of 10 years of League of Legends and there’s one in particular first-person shooter fans are already building hype around.
“Project A” as it’s currently titled is a “character-based tactical shooter set in a near-future Earth” according to Riot Games. Aspects from the below gif alone definitely give you Counter-Strike vibes, but what you’ll see upon further inspection is that it’s most definitely not that.
You may have looked past “character-based” because the gif looked so smooth, but that does in fact mean it’ll share some similarities with games like Overwatch and Paladins as well.
You can see in a video provided afterwards just what some of these characters are capable of whether it be reviving a teammate, doing something with green stuff, or throwing daggers.
Anna Donlon, Executive Producer of Project A walks fans through what their goal is with the game and gives even more footage of what the game looks like in its current state.
Will it be looking to jump into the esports space? It appears so as she goes on to state “this is our take on a competitive shooter.”
The game will focus on making sure it maintains the tactical shooter play with “more creativity, more expression, and a lot more style.”
It’ll still have some good pull from Counter-Strike though as one of the games developers is none other than Sal “Volcano” Garozzo, the creator of de_cache.
It’s an exciting time for those who call themselves a gamer everywhere but it may be awhile before you get to play the game. “We’re going heads down for awhile, but expect to hear more from us in 2020,” Donlon says to close the video.
