Dominik “Black^” Reitmeier’s competitive season is in jeopardy after he broke his right arm humerus bone during an arm wrestling with one of the fans present on the last day of Moonduck’s Jungle Jam – alternative live coverage, viewing party for TI9.

Balck^ wasn’t a part of the official English broadcast for this year’s edition of The International, however, he was invited by Moonduck to attend the coverage party in Denver, Colorado. According to Mooduck’s Andrew “Zyori” Campbell, Black^ was just fine until the grand finals of TI9, when he accepted the challenge from a fan.

“Black comes in, walks into the fan area […] and there is this guy with a Liquid jersey who has been standing in the front row all day. Very friendly guy, he’s been talking to SUNSfan for hours, he’s chatted everybody up all day, I’ve met him, […] his getting everybody’s signature, so Black^ comes in, we introduce them to each other and the guy notices that Black^ has a bunch of muscles and says “hey, we should arm wrestling!” And Black^ says, “ok, let’s go,” Zyori recalls the events in his latest Podcast episode with Trent “TrentPax” MacKenzie.

Black^ himself didn’t give too many details on the injury so far. In a tweet from last night, he updates his fans on his streaming schedule saying that he will resume those Monday after a doctor appointment.

This is, unfortunately, the second time in a row when Black^ is to miss the start of the season over an arm injury. The same thing happened to him in the previous season when he had to wait for a few months for his wrist to heal before even attempting to join a team. After the Chongqing Major he went back to full practice schedule and joined Infamous late in the season, but the team couldn’t make a miraculous run through the last two Majors of the Dota Pro Circuit and just ahead of the regional qualifiers he found himself teamless once more.

Humerus fractures take months to heal. Also, in the past season, Dota 2 fans had to witness the painful downfall of EHOME after Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida broke his right hand humerus bone in February during the media day of a non-DPC tournament. Faith_bian was away from the competitive scene for about four months before he was able to re-join his team in the regional qualifiers for the last Major of the season.
