Regional Open Qualifiers for The International 2019 kick off in the coming days and many teams will be hoping to; firstly, get into the closed qualifier and consecutively make it all the way through that to reach TI. The China region has a ton of massive names and well-known teams and below we will highlight some of them.

Newbee

  • Tan ‘JiaJia’ Lija
  • Song ‘Sccc’ Chun
  • Wen ‘awen’ Lipeng
  • Yan ‘Waixi’ Chao
  • Lu ‘Fenrir’ Chao

It has been a long time since Newbee have been able to make any impact on the Dota 2 scene but the Chinese squad will be hoping to change all that and maybe take a second TI victory home for their organization. It will be an extremely tough road through the qualifiers, but it will also be interesting to see how Fenrir and JiaJia fair within this roster.

Team Gas

  • Gong ‘ZSMJ’ Jian
  • Wang ‘Sansheng’ Zhaohui
  • Bi ‘Axx’ Xia
  • Li ‘Chisbug’ Chen
  • Aquarius

This squad features some of the best Dota 2 players in China and includes the likes of Axx, the female player who has shown brilliance at Newbee.Boss in recent times. With some very well-known names such as Sansheng, gracing the teams, they could definitely put up a strong challenge at the qualifiers.

For the Dream

  • Bu ‘YaphetS’ Yanjun
  • Yin ‘aq’ Rui
  • Zheng ‘Ghost’ Jie
  • Liu ‘yoona/HepburN’ Xiangkun
  • Wang ‘闷油瓶’ Liang

The biggest news from this FTD squad is the return of YaphetS to the professional Dota 2 world once again. After playing briefly with FTD earlier in the year, it seems that the once well-known Shadow Fiend extraordinaire, will be dusting off the cobwebs and looking to take the China open qualifiers by storm.

Team Solid

  • Xu ‘BurNIng’ Zhilei
  • Zhou ‘bLink’ Yang
  • Jiang ‘YYF’ Cen
  • Li ‘iceice’ Peng
  • Huang ‘LongDD’ Xiang

With two Wings Gaming TI winners as well as BurNIng, this squad named ‘Solid’ will be looking to fight through the Chinese open qualifiers and maybe cause some big upsets. While BurNIng has been coaching over at Team Aster for some time, it has been a long period since we’ve seen bLink or iceice gracing the game. This will definitely be an interesting team to watch as the qualifiers run.

Other notable Chinese teams at The International 2019 Open Qualifiers

  • Aster.Aquarius
  • CDEC
  • Invictus Gaming
  • Invictus Gaming.Vitality
  • Keen Gaming.Luminous
  • Newbee.Young
  • Team Serenity
  • Typhoon

There are a ton of amazing and interesting Chinese teams heading into the regional open qualifiers but few will make it through to the closed bracket and only one can claim a spot at TI9. There’s likely to be big upsets and some fantastic Dota 2 action too. With so many well-known players from the region making their attempt to get into a home ground TI, China will definitely be a big region to watch at qualifiers.
