After the Southeast Asia region gave us a magnificent grand final for the WeSave! Charity Play event, CIS was up next as HellRaisers and Natus Vincere took to their online positions to fight in what was now the semi-finals.
CIS begun its online event for the WeSave! Charity Play tournament with Virtus.pro and b8 also being a part of the group, but after the initial series, both teams fell by the wayside – leaving only Na’Vi and HR in the grand finals. However, after one of the WePlay! stretch goals was met, the CIS final became a semi-final feature, with the winner going up against either Nigma or Team Liquid in a joined grand final between the EU and CIS region.
Going into the series, it was HR who came out swinging, taking a commanding first game over their opponents as the team made one of their first showings with Vladimir ‘RodjeR’ Nikogosyan since he joined earlier this month. It was a masterful showing from Alexander ‘Nix’ Levin on a Broodmother though that gave them the first game before an even stronger Riki pummeled the Na’Vi lineup in the next – giving them a 2-0 lead in the series.
Needing a victory to remain in the event and hopefully find a reverse sweep, Na’Vi looked to Vladislav ‘Crystallize’ Krystanek’s Morphling to carry them to a victory – but it was never to be. This time it was Gleb ‘Funn1k’ Lipatniko’s Void Spirit for HellRaisers that tore through their opponents and pushed HR into a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The win will now see HellRaisers move into the grand final where they will get to face up against either Team Liquid or Nigma. The EU semi-final will take place tomorrow, but the date and time of the grand final has yet to be confirmed but we are sure it will give us a lot more Dota 2 action in the coming days.
WeSave! Charity Play continues this evening as the North American grand final is about to get underway with Evil Geniuses taking on CR4ZY to determine the region’s champion.
