Southeast Asia open regional qualifiers for The International 2019 have officially concluded as the clock was ticking 02:00 a.m in Singapore. Three more squads are now a step closer to fulfil the dream of any Dota 2 player, team and organization: qualify for the biggest annual tournament.
For the first time ever in the history of TI, SEA closed regional qualifiers will feature a full Vietnamese team. 496 Gaming were knocked in the first leg of open by Febby’s stack, Team Jinesbrus. However, the second round of open brackets went perfect for the five Vietnamese players who now have a chance to write history for their country. With two of their members being on the team since 2018 and with Trịnh “458” Văn Thọ who actually got to play in the past year on the TNC Tigers roster along 1437, Dendi and kYxY, 496 Gaming might be the ultimate underdog to surprise us all.
Second team that claimed a spot into the closed qualifiers today is Amplfy who features the scene veterans Jio “Jeyo” Madayag and Ryo “ryOyr” Hasegawa. The final round of open qualifiers finished with great news for the Singaporean fans who will have Resurgence to cheer for starting tomorrow, July 7. Resurgence is not only the only Singaporean squad to fight in the closed regionals but they also have the only South African player to have made it to so close to a spot at TI.
SEA closed qualifiers are set to begin Sunday, July 7 at 11:00 SGT/06:00 EEST with eight teams fighting for just one ticket to The International 2019.
