A strange ending to the lower bracket elimination games today at OGA Dota PIT Season 2: EU/CIS saw two teams being eliminated from the event – one of those being an unfortunate disconnect loss.

After we saw Alliance and Nigma claim upper bracket wins earlier in the day, it was time for lower bracket elimination action – with VP.Prodigy taking on Ninjas in Pyjamas to start things off. NiP were already struggling to find their footing in the event and today did not make matters any better – as the team were still searching for a replacement for their ex-captain, Akbar ‘SoNNeikO’ Butaev. VP.P, on the other hand, were still looking fairly strong, although dropping into the lower bracket at the hands of Natus Vincere.

VP.P were the first to strike, taking an emphatic game one victory – before NiP struck back hard with a solid game two to tie things up at 1-1. However, even with the mighty Andreas Franck ‘Cr1t’ Nielsen playing as a stand-in for them, NiP could not stick a second victory, as the Egor ‘epileptick1d’ Grigorenko Phantom Lancer dismantled any hopes they could muster in the decisive game. With their win, VP.P move forward in the lower bracket where they will have the tough task of taking on OG tomorrow. For NiP, they will have to look back to the drawing board and hope that their replacement captain can pull them out of the rut they seem to be in.

While both lower bracket series went the full three games, the second one between Vikin.gg and FlyToMoon was by far the most interesting. After an extremely odd ending to game one, in which FtM seemed to have the win in the bag, they managed to somehow throw it all away in one push and gift Vikin.gg the first game. However, FtM turned everything around in game two to take the series to a decisive game three.

Unfortunately, this is where things got even worse for Vikin.gg as Miroslav ‘BOOM’ Bičan suffered a loss of electricity in his village and thus the game was paused for an elongated period of time. After near half an hour of waiting, Vikin.gg made the odd decision to unpause the game without their player and try to do anything in a 5vs4 situation. This, as expected, did not work out and the team would technically forfeit the final battle.

This sadly would mean that Vikin.gg would have to be eliminated from the OGA Dota PIT Season 2: EU/CIS event, while FtM move forward in the lower bracket where they will face Na’Vi tomorrow. Tomorrow we will see another four series, with three more eliminations on the cards and hopefully no more power outages to ruin the day’s play for the teams.
