Rasmus “Caps” Winther has been named the LEC Spring Split MVP. The Dane finished first in the regular split, leading the mid lane for G2 Esports and helping the “samurai” to a 13-5 record. G2 are also set to play in the LEC grand final this Sunday, facing the winner of tomorrow’s match between Fnatic and Origen.
Caps broke out in 2017 after he joined Fnatic and in 2018 took back-to-back EU LCS championships, as well as second place at Worlds 2018. His move from Fnatic to G2 Esports at the same time left a huge hole to fill in the reigning champions and pushed G2 to become the new side to beat this season.
Although Caps’ stats were not all the best among midlaners, he led the scoreboards in terms of average kills and solo kills total. He also won the Spring Split running the second deepest champion pool among LEC mids.
This is also Caps’ second season MVP award in a row, after winning the award in 2018 Summer.
