Counting their record as SKT, T1 have extended their win-rate record against rival telecom team KT Rolster to 24-6 in series. The winningest League of Legends franchise is now on a five-series win-streak against KT and have dropped just one game out of the last 11.

The rivalry between T1 and KT hasn’t really been contested since 2018, KT’s best year in franchise history. Considered the strongest team in Korea at the time, KT boasted the super-team line-up of Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho, Go “Score” Dong-bin, Heo “PawN” Won-seok, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, and Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong and ended up winning the both the regular season and the playoffs of the Summer Split. 2018 was also the only year where KT Rolster won the telecom rivalry, getting four of their six total wins against SKT.

A year and some change later, however, the balance of power is skewed heavily into T1’s favor. Even though the team lost key players like Kim “Clid” Tae-min and Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, it had it much easier than KT, who faced relegation after the 2019 Spring Split and survived it only to place 8th in Summer. Their roster revamp during the off-season isn’t working either and after the loss to T1, KT sit 9th in the league at 0-3, having won just two games out of eight.

Thus, the latest installment of the telecom war was less a contested rivalry and more a showing-off grounds for Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan. After shutting down Kim “bonO” Gi-beom’s Jarvan quickly with two kills before the 10-minute mark, Cuzz’s Diana swung bottom to take two more kills and a turret first blood. The first big team fight broke out at 25th minute, ending in a three-for-nil exchange for T1, marking the de facto end of the game.

Game 2 was a similar affair. This time on Olaf, Cuzz secured three kills and a 3k gold lead before the 12-minute mark. Until the very last team fight of the game, KT only secured two kills and a couple of towers, while T1’s gold lead continued to escalate.

T1’s next game is against 3rd place Gen.G (2-0) on Sunday, Feb. 16. KT plays Damwon Gaming next, on the same day.
