Last Saturday 8th of August, Riot Games announced a new expansion for Legends of Runeterra called Call of the Mountain, consisting of a set of expansions that will come this month to our servers.
As they explained in the announcement, an expansion includes all the cards, champions, cosmetics, and game modes released with a major patch under a different name each time.
The newest expansion, Call of the Mountain, is actually a set of expansions that will include three of them. Riot Games plan to release new cards roughly every two months starting with this particular expansion, and each three-expansion set will focus on a new region, being, in this case, the region of Targon.
In every set, the first expansion will be the largest, containing all the cards needed to introduce the new region’s major themes and multiple viable decks featuring that region. The next two expansions (2nd and 3rd) would be about half that size, mixing new themes, new mechanics, and evolutions of strategies.
This is the schedule that they have prepared for us:
We still have to wait until next August 26th to be able to play with all these new things, but for now, Riot Games are spoiling us with some of the cards and keywords that are coming to Legends of Runeterra in Call of the Mountain expansion.
For now, they have revealed three new cards of the expansion and its newest keyword, Spellshield, which nullifies the next enemy spell or skill that would affect a unit.
Climbing Mount Targon can be treacherous, but those who brave the dangers have found new forms of protection. New Keyword—Spellshield: Nullifies the next enemy spell or skill that would affect this unit.

Tyari the Traveler: a two mana unit with 2/2 stats. A Support-ability card that will grant the supported ally +0|+2.
Mountain Sojourners: also with a Support role, is a five mana unit with 2/5 stats that will provide to the supported ally +2|+2. If this ally also has Support, the stats continue to the next unit.
Arbiter of the Peak: a ten mana unit with 6/6 stats that deals Overwhelm. Its cost will be reduced by one for each time that we have targeted or supported allies in the game.
Bastion: a three mana Burst spell that gives an ally SpellShield for one round.
New stuff will be announced the next few days, and Taric could be revealed anytime from now since Bastion is a clue of it (Taric has an ability called Bastion in League of Legends), while the teaser reveals that “someone is waiting at the peak”.
